Scars

Hey everyone, it's your girl Safa here, ready to share something really close to my heart. 🌟 Today, I'm switching things up a bit. My amazing classmates encouraged me to share a poem I wrote during an activity where we had to dive deep into the struggles students face, the kind that can leave deep scars and become haunting memories.  This poem is my way of shining a light on those dark corners, expressing the raw emotions and silent battles many of us fight. I hope it resonates with you all and maybe even brings a little comfort. Here it is. Enjoy! đź’«  In the quiet of the classroom, minds should freely roam, But confusion filled the air, no understanding, just a dome. A student sought a friend, a whisper in the air, The teacher's wrath exploded, a book flung in despair. But what if patience guided, a different path we took? What if wisdom whispered, "Let's not throw the book"? If empathy were chosen, and kindness led the way, The classroom's gentle heartb...

Childhood Shadows

In the playground of memories, shadows dance, Where laughter once lived, now a silent trance. Tiny hands grasping at fleeting dreams, Innocence shattered by piercing screams. A kaleidoscope of colors, now a blur, Bright hues dimmed by the pain that stirs. The monster under the bed, not just pretend, A silent secret, a story with no end. Whispers in the dark, like ghosts in the night, Fear’s cold fingers, gripping tight. Eyes wide open, yet blind to the day, Lost in a maze where light can't stay. A heart, once a garden, now overgrown, Thorns where flowers should have grown. Echoes of footsteps, long and swift, Memories like shadows, that never lift. A soul tattooed with invisible scars, Dreams trapped behind iron bars. Yet in the rubble, a spark of light, A warrior’s spirit, ready to fight. For every tear, a star is born, From broken pieces, a phoenix is sworn. In the ashes of pain, strength will rise, A testament to the child’s silent cries. Though childhood shadows may linger and ...

Cinema. It's a word that sparks debate, fascination, and sometimes even controversy. For many, it's a beloved escape, a way to unwind and experience stories beyond the bounds of reality. For others, especially the older generation, it's seen as a disruptive influence. But let's take a moment to dive deeper. Is cinema just a form of entertainment, or is it something more profound? A Disturbance or a Mirror to Society? How often have we heard, "Cinema is just a distraction," or "Kids shouldn't watch movies"? There are indeed arguments against cinema – it can be addictive, promote unrealistic expectations, or even spread harmful ideologies. However, isn't it also true that cinema reflects society, highlighting issues we might otherwise overlook?  Think about it. How many sensitive topics, often too bold for the news, have been fearlessly tackled in films? From corruption to social injustices, cinema has brought to light countless issues that wer...

Do You Believe in Spirits? Before diving into my story, let me ask you: do you believe in spirits? Why do I bring this up? Today, I'm sharing a deeply unsettling experience that I've never even told my mom about.  When I was in sixth grade, my great-grandma passed away. I barely remember her, and I couldn't attend her funeral due to some uncertainties. However, I was present for the rituals held 40 days after her passing. These rituals took place in the evening, and everyone was busy with preparations. My entire family and relatives were caught up in the work, and as the ritual began, I wandered into her room.  Now, I'm someone who never sleeps in the evening. Yet, somehow, I fell into a deep sleep. My family searched for me because I was missing for hours. When the ritual ended around midnight, I woke up precisely at 12:00 and went to the dining room. My mom was shocked to see me and asked where I'd been. I told her I'd been in great-grandma's room. Her res...

Whispers of the Waves

Hey guys . it's Safa here and hope you will enjoy reading my sweet melody.  Neon skies paint the dusk, as the sun bids goodbye, Waves crash softly, the evening takes a sigh. Kids' laughter echoes, footprints in the sand, Building dreams, chasing waves with each little hand. Seagulls soar, their songs a melody so sweet, Nature’s choir blends with the rhythm of our heartbeat. Vendors stroll with treats, their voices sing a tune, peanuts, and popcorn, a feast beneath the moon. Kites dance on the breeze, high above the shore, Colors swirl and twirl, leaving us wanting more.  Night falls, city lights flicker, vibes are all around, The beach turns into a party, where new beats are found. Friends gather, bonfires blaze, stories start to flow, In this modern seaside glow, where memories grow.

Speaking of school days, they were absolutely golden. I still remember the thrill of playing football, antakshari, and basketball. And oh, the endless gossip sessions with friends – those were the moments that now shine brightly in my memory. We were a diverse bunch, conversing in English and Hindi, with classmates from all over India. This mix of cultures was a fantastic way to learn about different traditions, and lunch breaks were a delicious adventure tasting food from various states. Honestly, I miss those times. Back then, life was simpler. There were no major commitments or parental expectations weighing us down. Experience truly shapes our memories, ...

From Falls to Fame

Growing up, I never imagined that roller skating would become such a defining part of my life. What started as a simple interest, nurtured by my dad, turned into a journey filled with challenges, perseverance, and eventually, national recognition. This is the story of my childhood as a skater and the incredible support that helped me succeed. Discovering Skating My love for roller skating began when I was very young. I remember watching skaters glide effortlessly on sidewalks and feeling a sense of awe. My dad noticed my fascination and decided to support me in pursuing this newfound passion. He bought me my first pair of roller skates and signed me up for lessons. Little did I know that this would be the beginning of an incredible journey. Overcoming Challenges The path to becoming a skilled skater was far from easy. The initial days were filled with countless falls and bruises. Learning the basics of balance and movement was challenging, and there were times I felt like giving up. Ho...

Nightmare Descent

Dreams often transport us to fantastical realms, but sometimes, they plunge us into the depths of our darkest fears. Last night, I had a dream that left me shaken, heart pounding, and drenched in cold sweat. It was a journey into the eerie unknown, where every shadow seemed to whisper of dread. The dream began in a desolate town, the kind you’d expect to see in an abandoned movie set. The streets were empty, and the buildings, once vibrant, now stood in a state of eerie decay. The air was thick with a palpable sense of foreboding, and the only sound was the hollow echo of my footsteps on the cracked pavement. As I walked through the ghostly town, I felt an unsettling presence behind me. I turned around, but there was nothing—just the silent, deserted street stretching out into the darkness. The feeling of being watched intensified, making my skin crawl. I quickened my pace, but the sense of dread followed me, growing stronger with each step. I reached an old, decrepit house at the end ...

Now Smile

Hey there, beautiful souls! 🌟 Have you ever noticed how a simple smile can light up a room? In a world where we’re all hustling and bustling, it feels like we’ve forgotten the magic that lies in the curve of our lips. So, let’s dive into why smiling is the ultimate beauty hack and how we can bring back that radiant grin in our lives! Why Aren't We Smiling More? In the age of Instagram filters and TikTok trends, you’d think we’d be smiling all the time, right? Wrong. It seems like we’ve swapped our genuine grins for digital likes and emojis. Here are a few reasons why smiles are becoming as rare as unicorns: 1. Stress and Anxiety The daily grind is real, and it’s taking a toll on our mental health. Deadlines, bills, and the endless pursuit of perfection are stealing our joy. 2. Digital Overload: We’re more connected than ever, yet feel more isolated. Social media can create unrealistic expectations, making us feel less satisfied with our own lives. 3. Lack of Real Connections: We’r...

Brush with Danger

Image
Hello, everyone! It's Safa Salsabeel here, and today I want to take you on a thrilling journey down the memory lane. Buckle up because this story from my 11th grade trip to Matheran is nothing short of an adventure! Picture this, Matheran is a stunning hill station near Mumbai, known for its serene hills and chill vibes. I was buzzing with excitement but also a bit nervous about the trip. We hit the road early in the morning, and things got off to a shaky start—our driver was half-asleep and nearly collided with a divider! Luckily, my sharp-eyed uncle noticed and woke him up just in time. Once we reached Matheran, the real fun began. Cars aren't allowed there, so you have to either trek or ride horses to get around. Naturally, we opted for the horses. We each picked one and embarked on an exhilarating 1.5-hour ride through the hills. My aunt, however, got the short end of the stick with a particularly a short tempered horse.  The ride was going smoothly until my horse accide...

Old school wisdom, timeless grace, New wave charm, a different pace. In the clash of words, the fusion grows, A blend of eras, as the future flows.

Dostoevsky in a Buddhist lens

The other day, I glanced over and saw my Buddha picture chilling next to my copy of  Crime and Punishment. It hit me—what would Buddha think of Raskolnikov's wild ride?. Here's my personal take on how the Four Noble Truths and the Eightfold Path vibe with classic. The Four Noble Truths in "Crime and Punishment" 1. The Truth of Suffering (Dukkha)  This novel is a deep dive into suffering in all its messy forms. Raskolnikov, the protagonist, is the poster child for inner turmoil and existential dread. His poverty, isolation, and guilt scream dukkha, the Buddhist idea that suffering is just part of life. 2.The Truth of the Cause of Suffering (Samudaya) In Buddhism, suffering comes from desire and attachment. Raskolnikov’s wild ambition and massive ego drive him to murder, thinking he’s above the law. This craving for power and control is classic samudaya, showing how clinging to ego and desires only leads to more suffering. His crushing guilt and paranoia are the price h...

Reuniting with Family

"No Time is Free Time, Every Time is Spare Time." Hey everyone! I’m Safa, and today, I want to share how I spent my spare time during a recent visit to Trichy. Staying in a hostel for the first time, away from family, has been one of my biggest challenges. And let's talk about hostel food – it just can't compare to the love-filled meals we get at home. You know what I mean, right? So, after what felt like ages, I finally got to visit my parents. I started my journey on a rainy Friday evening, caught in heavy traffic. With all the trains booked, I had no choice but to take a bus. Despite the rain leaking through the window, I kept my spirits high, even managing to write a blog post en route. When I finally reached Trichy, seeing my parents felt like a dream. Their happiness was contagious, and my first meal at home made me feel like my taste buds were alive again. The next day, I spent at my grandmother’s house, indulging in a feast she lovingly prepared just for me....

Just a Dream

Hey all, buckle up 'cause I gotta share this wild dream I had last night. It was like diving straight into a mashup of a Studio Ghibli film and some next-level fantasy game. So, picture this: I’m in this epic forest, right? Trees so tall they’re practically scratching the sky, with sunlight breaking through the leaves, casting these dope golden spots all around. The air? Crisp and pine-fresh, like a breath of calm in a chaotic world. It was like my own personal slice of paradise. I'm wandering down this winding path when, out of nowhere, I start meeting these super chill animals. First, a deer with these deep, soulful eyes that seemed to hold the secrets of the universe. Then, a bird flits by, showing off feathers that looked like a freaking rainbow explosion. And finally, this sly fox gives me a nod, like we’re old pals sharing an inside joke. We vibed without saying a word—just pure, unspoken understanding. Next thing I know, I’m in this magical clearing with a massive, ancie...

My First Murder

Last night, around 11:00 PM, I found myself in a showdown I never anticipated. As I stood by the kitchen sink of my PG, meticulously washing dishes and organizing my space, I noticed an unexpected visitor.oh yes guys.. This wasn’t just any ordinary insect. It was a centipede, its many legs scuttling awkwardly on the tiled floor, making a beeline for me. Imagine seeing a creature straight out of a nightmare, its countless legs moving with a sinister purpose which was heading towards me. My heart raced, and a shriek escaped my lips. Panic washed over me like a tidal wave. My heart was pounding like a drum solo at a rock concert. My roommates, rushed towards me and were paralyzed in fear.  We stood there, a group of modern warriors facing an ancient menace. As the senior in the room, I knew I had to take charge. My mother’s words echoed in my mind: “Respond, don’t react.” With trembling hands and a racing heart, I ordered my roommate to fetch the weapon which is the broomstick  in...

A Stormy Welcome

Image
Hey everyone! I recently spent an entire month in Mumbai at my grandpa's home, and I have to say, it was a rollercoaster of emotions and experiences. From surviving a crazy dust storm to immersing myself in the magic of Bollywood, my time in Mumbai was anything but ordinary. I arrived in Mumbai around 11:00 pm, greeted by a severe dust storm. The wind was so fierce that it broke the glass window in my room right in front of me. Just imagine the force of that wind! Trees were uprooted, and sadly, dozens of people lost their lives during that storm. My uncle, who works as a GM at L&T, was stuck in the insane traffic that Mumbai is famous for. I was anxious, waiting for him to come home safely. A Day After the Storm The next day, everything returned to normal. I watched a movie called "Laapta Ladies," which my friends had recommended. It was a fantastic film, and I hope it brings a fresh wave of creativity to Bollywood. Speaking of Bollywood, let me dive into my love for...

From Library to Coffeehouse

Image
Hello everyone! I am Safa Salsabeel, and today’s topic is "From Library to Coffeehouse." The library is a peaceful place where we learn and gain knowledge, but imagine turning it into a coffeehouse. That's exactly what it felt like during our visit! My friends and I gathered there, and Nitish was reading Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen  We then discussed her other works like Emma and Mansfield Park, eventually diving into Leo Tolstoy's Crime and Punishment .We even touched on Anna Karenina. Later, my very sweet friend Prakalya and I studied Pathetic and Affective Fallacy. For those not into literature, here’s a quick explanation: - Pathetic Fallacy: Attributing human emotions to non-human objects. -Affective Fallacy: Judging a poem by the emotional effect it produces in the reader's mind. Our conversation deepened as we discussed works that profoundly affected us.  We spoke about books that perfectly blend with Affective Fallacy. One such book is Pyre by Perum...

Learn to Say No

Hey everyone! It's your blogger Safa, and today I am going to throw light on the topic "Learn to Say No". But why did I choose this Topic? It's something important which I wish to convey from past many days. I've noticed that many students get sidetracked by peer pressure, which can derail their focus and goals. Let’s break down this phenomenon. Now, let me ask you a question.. What is peer pressure? Peers are individuals of the same age groups or same profession and when they try to influence your actions then it's called peer pressure.  Wait! Besides that, do you know that there are types of peer pressure too? Yes, now stay tuned to get updated... Yes, There are two kinds one is Positive Peer Pressure, which encourages a better behavior, for instance you will become a better version of yourself and another is negative peer pressure, which can lead to harmful actions. Besides that, there's Direct Peer Pressure, where someone explicitly tries to chang...
