When MCC met St Xavier's

Some friendships are like old wine they age beautifully, becoming richer and more unforgettable with time. Today was one such day when I reconnected with my childhood friend, who now calls Mumbai’s iconic St. Xavier’s College her second home.

We started by diving straight into a college showdown MCC versus St. Xavier’s. She painted vivid pictures of Xavier’s Gothic charm, its legendary fests, and the buzzing energy that only Mumbai can bring. Not to be outdone, I spoke of MCC’s sprawling green campus, where the air is filled with the chirping of birds and the rustling of leaves. I spoke about MCC’s cultural fests, which are more frequent, diverse, and vibrant than anything she could imagine. From literary debates to theatrical performances, music nights to traditional celebrations, MCC is a melting pot of creativity, talent, and spirit.

It’s not just about the fests, though. I shared how MCC’s essence lies in its inclusivity and the way it nurtures every student’s individuality. Whether it’s a peaceful walk through the banyan-lined paths or an intellectually stimulating discussion under a tree, MCC feels like more than just a college it’s an experience, a journey of self-discovery.

She couldn’t help but admit how special MCC sounded, though she countered with her own tales of Xavier’s magic. By the end, we agreed that while our colleges differ in vibe, they share the same soul a place where dreams take root and memories blossom.

What made the day truly magical, however, was leaving our college lives behind for a moment to rewind to our school days. The laughter came easy as we reminisced about sneaking candies into class, huddling together during PT periods to gossip, and pulling pranks on our classmates.

She brought up the day she left for Mumbai how sudden and emotional it was for both of us. At the time, it felt like an end, but life had other plans because we lost our contact numbers. Here we are years later, sharing the same city and picking up right where we left off.  Life really does have a knack for weaving stories in unexpected ways.

And the best part? Our bond remains unshaken, perhaps even stronger now. We talked about how childhood friendships like ours don’t just survive distance they thrive on it, turning into a treasure trove of shared memories and inside jokes.

As the sun dipped below the horizon, we sat by the sea, letting the sound of waves fill the pauses in our conversation. It was one of those rare moments when time seemed to stop, and all that mattered was the connection we shared.

Today wasn’t just about catching up; it was about celebrating the people we were, the people we’ve become, and the beautiful journey in between. Here’s to MCC, St. Xavier’s, and a friendship that has stood the test of time and distance. Some things, after all, are simply meant to be. MCC forever remains my pride, a place where memories are made, and life’s best moments come alive.
