VC feels like Home
After what felt like ages, I finally had a video call with my grandparents, and let me tell you it was everything my soul needed. Between deadlines and scrolling through reels, I’d forgotten how comforting their voices could be. But the moment their faces lit up my screen, it felt like a warm hug from the past.
Grandpa was the first to pick up, squinting at the camera like it was some futuristic gadget from a sci-fi movie. “Can you see me? Can you hear me?” Classic grandpa vibes! And grandma? Oh, she was ready with her usual love-filled complaints: “Why didn’t you call earlier? Have you been eating properly? You look so tired!”
We dived into the updates. Grandpa shared his gardening triumphs.. Grandma was all about her new recipe experiments, insisting I note them down even though I barely manage to toast bread without burning it.
Then came the fun part: the filters. I showed them how to use those funky AR filters, and seeing grandpa with a crown and grandma with glittery fairy wings? Pure gold. Their laughter was infectious, and for a moment, all the stress of my life just melted away.
By the time we said goodbye, my heart was full, and I realized something: this wasn’t just a call. It was a connection, a reminder of where I come from, and a nudge to hold onto the things that really matter.
So, if it’s been a while since you called your grandparents, do it. Share a laugh, listen to their stories, and let them remind you of the beauty in the little things. Sometimes, all it takes is a video call to feel at home again.
