Behind the Social Mask

No cap , being fake is the new personality trait. Welcome to Fakeland, where everyone’s wearing a social mask, not for safety, but for social approval. Realness? Ghosted. Authenticity? Soft-blocked. Vulnerability? Left on read. It’s giving “fake it till you make it, but make it spiritual, aesthetic, and emotionally unavailable.

People don’t connect anymore they network Every “Let’s catch up soon” is basically “I’ll double-tap your story and dip.” We’re not talking, we’re trauma-dumping with zero intent to follow up. One day they’re commenting “ily bestieee” under your post, and the next? They’re dragging your name in the group chat like it’s a trending audio.

And don’t even get me started on the “deep souls” posting vague sad quotes with a mirror selfie like they just cured heartbreak. Bro, you’re not healing you’re hiding behind Canva fonts and moody filters.

We live in a world where everyone’s soft-launching their toxicity. Friendships are curated like IG grids looks good outside, but inside? Dead battery, no signal. People will match your energy, just to drain it. “Check on your friends” is the anthem, but y’all out here sending hearts instead of help.

It’s all performative loyalty with a sprinkle of “look at me caring” energy. Everyone wants to be real until real requires effort. Until it’s not fun. Until it’s not cute. Until someone actually needs you to show up without posting it.

Why is everyone like this? Because fake gets claps. Fake gets clout. Fake is pretty. Real is raw. Real is messy. Real makes people uncomfy, and in this aesthetic-obsessed era, being uncomfortable isn’t cute for the feed.

But guess what? Real still hits different. Be the text they don’t expect. Be the reply that’s honest. Be the unfiltered face in a world of blur tools. Be rare. Because in a world full of clones and highlight reels, the real ones may be extinct but when they show up?
