Eid Vibes, PG Tales and Nostalgic Hugs
Eid is here, and guess what? I finally made it back to Trichy to celebrate! The comfort of home, the aroma of my favorite dishes, and the warmth of familiar faces nothing beats that feeling.
This morning, my alarm was practically screaming at me, and yeah, I snoozed it a million times. Waking up felt like a battle, but then it hit me I had to get up for the special Eid prayer. So, I did, half asleep but fully determined.
As soon as prayers were done, it was my duty to distribute sweets. So off I went, knocking on doors, sharing happiness (and sweets, of course). And then, reality check! My neighbors were waiting with their never-ending curiosity about my PG life. The Q&A session began, and let’s just say, I had some spicy hostel tales to share.
But what really made my day? Kanamma Pati. A retired nurse, 90 years old and an irreplaceable part of my childhood. My friends and I spent endless hours in her arms, listening to her magical stories. Seeing her after three years was overwhelming nostalgic yet heartbreaking. Age had caught up with her; she struggled to walk, but her happiness on seeing me was pure magic. She hugged me tight, held my hands, and for a moment, it felt like time had rewound. Even in her pain, she radiated joy.
Every home I visited had a story to tell. My childhood bestie’s mother, gave me the ultimate ‘eat healthy, take care’ speech (classic mom vibes, you know?). Besides that, she also spoke about her journey as the principal of one of the colleges in Trichy. She shared insights into the current education system, the challenges students face today, and how institutions are adapting to modern trends. It was inspiring to hear how she balances her responsibilities while shaping the next generation.
Then there was Akka, my close friend, who had the biggest news her VISA to Canada got approved! She was on cloud nine, spilling her entire life story from college struggles to the IT grind, and now, a new chapter in a new country. Her excitement was contagious, and I couldn’t be happier for her.
Today was more than just an Eid celebration. It was a reality check, an emotional rollercoaster, and a knowledge exchange. From job market trends to VISA struggles, and from the loneliness of old age to the thrill of new beginnings, every conversation left me with something to reflect on.
Moral of the day? Cherish the people who shaped your childhood, be there for those who need you, and embrace every phase of life with gratitude.
Eid Mubarak, folks! Keep spreading love, laughter, and of course, sweets!
