Chasing Comfort

Sitting in this crowded room,

But my heart's stuck in my old bedroom,

Where the walls remember my name,

And every corner feels the same.

City lights flicker, neon bright,

But they can't outshine my hometown night.

I crave the scent of mom's sweet tea,

The laughter, the ease, the ‘just be.’

Suitcases packed with dreams and doubt,

But the silence screams when the lights go out.

Phone calls can’t fill the empty space,

Of those familiar smiles, that warm embrace.

I thought I’d find myself out here,

But all I found were waves of fear.

So, I scroll through pictures, time on loop,

Feeling like a kite without its troop.

But maybe one day, I'll feel okay,

Not just a visitor passing through the day.

Until then, I’ll chase the old bliss,

Wrapped in the memories that I miss.
