International Girl Child's Day

 "I raise my voice – not so that I can shout, but so that those without a voice can be heard.” echoes Malala Yousafzai. You might be flummoxed why did I quote her, some might have presumed. Yes, you read my mind. As Today is International Girl Child's Day, I would like to season my thoughts on the situation about the girl child now. 2022 has been a vicious year for the girl child. In Afghanistan, many girls were nipped in the bud from accessing education. On September 30, 2022, over 50 girls and young women, predominately Hazara, were killed as they were preparing for an exam at the Kaaj educational centre in Dasht-e-Barchi, western Kabul. In Taliban, women are forbidden from accessing education. In Syria, hundreds of Yazidi girls and women continue to be enslaved by Daesh, having been abducted from Sinjar in August 2014. They continue to be abused and the end of their suffering is nowhere to be seen as the international community is not acting to rescue them. And the list go...

Promoting Inclusive Democracy for Young Leaders

 Hi everyone! I am Safa Salsabeel Z. Hope you are doing great! Today, I am going to braid my thoughts and emotions about a worthy certificate course.US Consulate General Chennai and Justice Shivaraj V Patel Academy for Democratic Values ( a unit of SOCO trust) which is conducting a one year certificate course on, "Promoting Inclusive Democracy for Young Leaders”. I feel delighted and proud to be a part of this course.  To begin with, I would like to crown my thoughts on the journey to Kodaikanal ( five days stay). Talking about halcyon days of my life, which were filled with ripples of joy and a sense of wisdom. My parents saw me off at Trichy railway station, we set off at 7:20 AM and we arrived at Madurai railway station at 9:30 AM. The inaugural session commenced at 10:00 AM which was out of this world i.e.  impressive!
